David Kerr is a veteran, a neighbor, and a dedicated leader committed to putting Tennessee's 1st Congressional District first. Join us for a stronger future.
David Kerr is a lifelong Tennessean, Marine Corps veteran, and father of two, running for Congress to restore accountability and genuine representation to Washington.
After serving over 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, David returned home with a deep belief that public service should answer to the people — not corporations, special interests, or foreign lobbyists. Like many in East Tennessee, he has seen firsthand how decisions made far from home affect working families, veterans, and rural communities.
David is running on a platform centered on accountability and constituent-first representation. He believes elected officials should be accessible, transparent, and answerable to the people they serve — not insulated by money or party leadership. If elected, he pledges to hold regular public forums and maintain open communication with constituents across the district.
A major focus of his campaign is affordable and accessible healthcare, especially for rural communities that have seen hospitals close and services disappear. David supports strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure, protecting access to essential care, and ensuring veterans and working families are not forced to travel hours for basic medical services. He believes personal medical decisions should be made by individuals, their families, and their doctors — not politicians — and supports protecting access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare.
David also supports term limits for members of Congress and comprehensive lobbying reform, believing that no one should be able to build a lifelong career trading influence for donations. He argues that these reforms are essential to restoring public trust and ensuring government works for everyday people.
David lives in East Tennessee with his family and remains deeply committed to serving the community he calls home.
